Bonjour et bienvenue!

So nice to meet you! My name is Kate Dumouchelle. Students call me Madame Kathryn. Sometimes people call me Madame Mindset.

I started teaching in 2008, in South Korea. Since then, I have taught mostly grade 1 and 2 in French language schools in Ontario, Canada. I have coached sports in and out of school. I served as my school's primary math lead and helped teachers integrate math strategies in their instruction.

In 2021, I started a YouTube channel called Madame Mindset. I had always wanted to create Brain Break videos in French, but I never felt like I had the time, the guts, or the energy to learn something new and get started.

After making a pivot to online learning, I knew I had to start for my students and for myself. I noticed right away that the students loved the Brain Breaks. There was a notable reduction of stress and anxiety. It was encouraging to see an increase in student engagement. I knew I had to share the videos because I wanted to help others. Since then, I've created over 200 Brain Break videos in French!

Because of Madame Mindset, have found a passion for creating engaging French Brain Breaks and other resources for students and teachers around the world. I love teaching and I want to be able to share my experience to help students and teachers in the classroom.

I have spent most of my career using brain breaks, games, and other activities in the classroom. I strongly believe that using exercise in the classroom is an effective teaching and learning tool. Part of my motivation for sharing my journey as a teacher online stems from my own difficulties trying to find ways to keep young students focused and ready to learn a new language. I know there are so many amazing teachers out there. I know from personal experience that teaching is hard work! I hope to spread happiness, kindness and a little bit of knowledge:)
